“Blinding Lights” by The Weeknd just became the first track to hit 5 billion streams! Here how the top ten looks as of January 2026.

Recently we’ve been looking at Spotify’s most followed artists and those with the most monthly listeners. Spotify keep this streaming data public and you can find a breakdown of the top 100 most-streamed songs, as well as other listening data on Wikipedia here.

On August 31st, 2025, The Weeknd’s Blinding Lights surpassed 5 billion streams on Spotify. As the most-streamed song on the platform, this is the first time this milestone has ever been hit on Spotify. Uploaded almost six years ago, Blinding Lights took the crown from Shape of You by Ed Sheeran on 31 December 2022, which currently has 4.74 billion streams and held the top position for a record 1,928 days (over five years!)

Today, there are 45 tracks with over 3 billion streams, and the top seven have over 4 billion!

Over the last four months since we last updated this list, Sweater Weather by The Neighbourhood has risen three places from sixth to third. This move has seen The Weeknd and Lewis Capaldi drop in the ranking. The Kid LAROI and Ed Sheeran have recently traded spots in ninth and tenth place.

Sweater Weather by The Neighbourhood holds the record for the most streams of all-time by a band. Despite releasing over three years ago, As It Was by Harry Styles is still the newest release on the top ten.
