Anghami’s top songs, artists, and genres 2023
As the top streaming service in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, it’s no surprise that Arabic music was hot on Anghami this year. Amr Diab, Ahmed Saad, and Tamer Hosny continued their reign as the top three Arabic artists.
Cairokee’s chart-topping album “Roma” and notable releases from Ramy Sabry and Hamza Namira further solidified the genre’s prominence. Egyptian pop music reigned supreme, amassing over 2.2 billion streams, while Arabic indie music gathered momentum, garnering a total of 448 million streams, indicating a growing appreciation for fresh and innovative sounds.
Whilst a love for regional music was clear, some artists break all boundaries in their popularity with listeners. The Weeknd, Taylor Swift, and Drake all topped Anghami’s international charts, much like on streaming services from other regions.
Whilst Miley Cyrus saw huge success with Flowers on Anghami, she didn’t top the charts like on Spotify. Instead, Rema & Selena Gomez took to the top international hit spot for the second consecutive year with “Calm Down”.
Overall, users streamed music for a whopping 23.15 billion minutes in 2023. The most-streamed genre was Egyptian Pop with 2.2 billion streams. Arabic Indie is a genre-to-watch with 448 million streams in the last year.
