Roland releases five classic drum & rhythm machine plugin emulations
Roland has released a collection of software drum machine VST plugins that emulate five of their most popular rhythm machines from the ’80s.
The Roland Drum Machine Collection gives users access to authentic recreations of Roland’s TR-808, TR-606, TR-909, TR-707, and TR-727.
Roland states that their new Drum Machine Collection is packed with enhanced emulation of their popular drum machines with new sound-shaping options, advanced sequencing capabilities, and Analog Circuit Behavior (ABC) technology.
These five drum machines have served as backbones to numerous tracks over the past 40 years, and these recreations sound and behave just like the vintage hardware, with the addition of advanced programming features and controls fit for modern production.

In practice, each user interface offers detailed workflows that give you the feel of working with the classic hardware, and they’re resizable interfaces too. Roland’s ACB circuit modeling technology has brought these renowned machines to the digital realm and gives them enhanced sound-shaping options.
For example, a suite of extended parameters and onboard effects allow you to shape and modernize your sound as much as you like, and advanced sequencers make it easy to create complex drum patterns and intricate grooves.
SonicState reports that you’ll find all of the original factory patches in these plugins in addition to a collection of new sounds. And the TR-8S Rhythm Performer allows for hands-on control and pattern transfer.
Finally, users will get a lifetime Key purchase that provides free access to future updates and software enhancements.
The Drum Machine Collection is available in VST3, AU, and AAX plugin formats, and offers native support for Apple Silicon. The Drum Machine Collection is available in the U.S. for $499.99 through Roland Cloud and its retail partners. You can use the 30-day free trial membership if you’d like to try it before you buy.
