Apple Music brings new DJ integration allowing users to create their own mixes
DJs will now gain access to Apple Music’s extensive catalogue across popular DJ software and hardware.
Apple Music brings DJ integration to leading platforms
Apple has announced its extensive Apple Music catalogue of over 100 million songs is now integrated directly within popular DJ software and hardware. This integration significantly expands accessibility for DJs, enabling them to mix and create sets using Apple Music’s vast library.
Previously, Apple Music integration was available exclusively on Algoriddim’s djay Pro software. Now, the expansion brings support for more industry-leading platforms, including AlphaTheta, Serato, inMusic’s Engine DJ, Denon DJ, Numark, and Rane DJ. With this integration, DJs at all levels can now experiment, mix, and perform using Apple Music’s catalogue within their preferred DJ tools.
Apple Music has also introduced a dedicated “DJ with Apple Music” category page that features DJ-friendly playlists and editor content, alongside curator pages for each partner platform- helping users discover new music and find inspiration for their sets.
How does it work?
Apple Music’s catalogue is integrated directly within supported software and hardware platforms. Apple Music subscribers can instantly access and mix tracks within their DJing apps, making it easier to access an extensive catalogue of tracks. For example, rekordbox users can now mix tracks straight from Apple Music’s catalog while leveraging professional tools within the app.

What this means for the industry
For DJs
The direct integration of Apple Music into DJ software “opens up a world of creative possibilities for both beginners and seasoned pros”. With instant access to an extensive song library, DJs can experiment with fresh sounds, build unique sets, and explore new genres without the constraints of limited track availability.

For Apple Music
This update comes at a time when competitors like SoundCloud and Spotify are exploring remixing and production tools. SoundCloud announced six integrated tools for editing, remixing and custom sample creation in 2024, and rumours suggest Spotify’s upcoming premium “Music Pro” subscription tier will feature AI-powered remixing tools. However, with Apple Music offering these capabilities at no additional cost, it could make Apple Music a more attractive choice for DJs looking for mixing features from their streaming platform.
Young Ly, CEO at Serato
Regardless, Apple Music’s DJ integration aligns with the broader industry shift toward “Streaming 2.0”, where platforms seek to add more value to artists and users to drive increased industry revenues. One thing is for sure, Apple is certainly adding value to users through this added integration, even if it is offered at no additional charge.
