AKAI celebrates 35 years of MPC with MPC One + standalone sampler and sequencer
AKAI unveiled the MPC One X SE just over a month ago, but now the manufacturer is releasing another iteration of its popular beat production station – this time in a glossy red finish and a few upgrades!
The MPC One + is the successor to AKAI’s MPC One groove-box sampler & sequencer. AKAI’s MPC has been setting standards and blazing trails for 35 years, and this new Plus model is here to celebrate the successes of the MPC and artists using the performance unit.
AKAI MPC One +
AKAI’s MPC One + is an entry-level groove-box that gives you a number of samplers, synths, effects, sequencers, and so on in a standalone unit.
The physical shape & appearance and layout of the MPC haven’t changed. There remains a 7-inch touchscreen, 16 premium MPC pads with polyphonic aftertouch, four Q-Link knobs, and a number of navigation controls.
However, AKAI has increased the internal memory of the MPC One + to 16GB and it’s included 2GB of samples and loops! The MPC One + also offers WLAN and Bluetooth connectivity whereas AKAI limited previous models to ethernet, so you can sync the One + to your computer via Ableton link as a result.
Whilst the MPC One + has had somewhat of a makeover and offers new connectivity options, there doesn’t seem to be all that which is new. There are new drum pad effects such as ring modulation and bit crush and a number of software enhancements that allow for finer control over samples, but the MPC + uses the same multi-core CPU as the MPC One.
Of course, if you’re a devoted MPC fan then there is definitely something for you in the MPC One +.
