How to upload your music to Boomplay Music for free
RouteNote announce a partnership with Boomplay Music, the number one music app in Africa, streaming your music to 75 million new listeners.
Launched in Nigeria in 2015, Boomplay Music is already the biggest music app across Africa, with 75 million users as of 2020. On top of international, pop and rock music, the streaming service focuses on African music, with genres including Afrobeats, Afropop and reggae. Today, Boomplay boasts an impressive 85 million songs from major and independent labels and distributors.
Boomplay Music is also loaded with recommended music, curated playlists, podcasts, and thousands of videos such as music videos, live concerts, comedies, documentaries and more. The Buzz community is home to news and social posts, where you can follower users, listen to friends playlists and send direct messages. You’ll also find other unique features on the app, like games, an equalizer, lyrics and a media player for locally stored music.
The app has a free and subscription model. Premium unlocks offline music and videos, unlimited streams, ad-free listening and higher audio quality. It’s free for the first month, then there are daily, weekly and monthly plans to choose from. Boomplay is available on the web, Android and iOS.
How to distribute to Boomplay Music
Existing RouteNote artists’ music will be sent to Boomplay Music automatically. To opt-out of this, contact our support team.
New artists interesting in sending their music to Boomplay Music can sign up to RouteNote for free here. Once you’ve got an account:
- Head to the Distribution tab and choose Create New Release
- Input your metadata, and upload your tracks and artwork
- Tick the Boomplay Music box in the Manage Stores page
- Choose between our Free and Premium tiers
- Free has zero fees, while you keep 85% of the revenue
- Premium has a small fee and annual cost, while you keep 100% of the revenue
That’s it! Your music will be sent to our moderation team, who will check the release for any formatting errors or copyright issues, before sending it to Boomplay Music and any other selected stores.
Even if you’re already distributing with another company, you can still use RouteNote to fill any gaps in stores or switch distributors entirely, while keeping your statistics and artist profiles.
