Spotify’s campaign tool will soon allow artists and labels to promote new releases to audiences in the UK and Ireland.

Spotify Marquee shows potential fans new albums, single or EPs from artists they have previously shown interest in. When browsing the Spotify mobile app, listeners will be shown a full-screen pop-up of an artist’s new release. Artists and managers can track the performance and engagement stats of the sponsored recommendation in Spotify for Artists. Marquees are shown to Spotify Free and Premium listeners, however paying subscribers can opt out of seeing them.

In June Spotify opened up Marquee, allowing any artist or label to apply. At the time, a minimum recommended budget by Spotify was $5000, making the program a difficult sell to most independent artists. The program is open to artists and teams in the US to promote to listeners in the US, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Starting next week, the UK and Ireland will be added to those countries. Spotify say they will open Marquee to more markets soon.

From May 28th, artists and managers will be able to promote releases that went live within the last 21 days to audiences in the UK and Ireland. An introductory miniumum spend of £250 is required. To start promoting your new release outside of the US, head here for instructions and click submit your info to schedule a Marquee through a local representative.
