Devialet announce their new $299 Gemini truly wireless earbuds with ANC
French high-end speaker and amplifier manufacturer Devialet announce ‘Gemini’, the companies first earbuds for $299, with ANC.
The company behind Phantom Reactor speaker, Devialet have announced their new product that aims to take the impressive audio technology of their larger speakers into the smallest of packages.
The Gemini earbuds use “pressure balance architecture”, which means they’ll stick well in you ears, giving a good seal and provide adequate pressure to improve sound quality and passively block out noise. Devialet’s earbuds also use microphones to detect changes in frequency to automatically adjust audio signal in real-time when the earbuds move. We’ve seen similar features to these in the likes of Apple’s AirPods Pro.
There are two microphones on each bud. One is used for active noise cancellation, while the other for calls and the voice assistant. There are three levels of ANC, which totally removes background noise, and two levels of transparency mode, which lets you hear what’s around you. All setting can be controlled in the mobile app. The app can also scan your ear to tell you what size ear tip to use. A touch bar at the rear of the buds controls music playback, noise cancellation or the voice assistant.
Devialet are promising 8 hours of battery life with ANC turned off, and 6 hours with ANC turned on. The wireless charging case holds 3.5 charges.
Devialet are pricing the Gemini earbuds at $299 which places them right at the top end of earbud prices. For reference, the Sony WF-1000XM3 launched at $229.99 and the Apple AirPods Pro launched at $249. Gemini are to be available in the coming weeks.
Devialet have also teamed up with companies in the past to produce smart speakers. See their Belkin and Huawei speakers.
