Spotify Wrapped is here! And with it comes Top Lists, highlighting the biggest artists, songs, albums, podcasts and audiobooks of the year.

It’s finally here. 2024 Spotify Wrapped has just dropped. Alongside personalized experiences for consumers detailing their most streamed tracks, and Wrapped for Artists showing artists their most popular moments, Spotify has also launched Top Lists. Top Lists detail this year’s ten most popular artists, songs, albums, podcasts and audiobooks, globally and country-by-country. As well as the lists, Spotify has highlighted trends and milestones, plus launched easter eggs, experiences on Snapchat and put up billboards around the world.

Music

In 2024, music on the platform was more exciting than ever, with artists and genres breaking into new spaces, including country music rising to new heights, breakout pop stars topping charts, genre-bending artists creating new waves, and the success and growth of female artists.

  • Most-Streamed Artists Globally: With more than 26.6 billion streams globally, Taylor Swift is Spotify’s 2024 Global Top Artist for the second year in a row, followed by The Weeknd (#2), Bad Bunny (#3), Drake (#4), and Billie Eilish (#5).
    • Spotify is giving a special thank you to the Swifties who helped propel their favorite artist to the top by simply being a fan, including: 
      • Global Top Artist Badge: For the first time, Spotify is crowning the Global Top Artist by adding a Wrapped badge to Taylor Swift’s Spotify profile – marking the inaugural year of this annual distinction and a new expression of the top honor.
      • On-Platform Easter Egg Experience: When listening to Taylor songs on Spotify, Swifties will encounter some unique surprises. A custom mini-animation tailored to the eras of her discography will be displayed on the Spotify Play Button, providing a complementary visual experience. Listeners will find Sparkles for Fearless (Taylor’s Version), Seagulls for 1989 (Taylor’s Version), and more. The easter eggs will begin rolling out today.
      • Global Top Artist AR Friendship Bracelet on Snapchat: It wouldn’t be a Swiftie celebration without friendship bracelets. Available exclusively on Snapchat in augmented reality, Swifites across the world will find special 2024 Wrapped bracelets, featuring a Global Top Artist Badge charm, via an AR lens. 
      • Global Out of Home (OOH): We’re also celebrating our Global Top Artist with dedicated installations in New York City, Toronto, Jakarta, São Paolo, Manila, Mexico City, London, Berlin, Los Angeles, Nashville, and Miami.
  • Most-Streamed Songs Globally: The most-streamed song of 2024 is Sabrina Carpenter’s smash hit “Espresso,” with more than 1.6 billion streams globally. In second and third, respectively, are “Beautiful Things” by Benson Boone (#2) and “BIRDS OF A FEATHER” by Billie Eilish (#3), followed by “Gata Only” by FloyyMenor, Cris Mj (#4) and “Lose Control” by Teddy Swims (#5) to round out the Top 5.
  • Most-Streamed Albums Globally: The most-streamed album of 2024 is THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT: THE ANTHOLOGY by Taylor Swift, followed by HIT ME HARD AND SOFT by Billie Eilish (#2). Taking the third spot is Short n’ Sweet by Sabrina Carpenter (#3), and coming in the fourth and fifth spots are MAÑANA SERÁ BONITO by KAROL G (#4) and eternal sunshine by Ariana Grande (#5).
  • Most Viral Songs Globally: When it comes to social sharing, “Die With A Smile” by Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga takes the top spot as the song most frequently shared from Spotify to social platforms. “BIRDS OF A FEATHER” by Billie Eilish comes in at number 2, followed by “Beautiful Things” byBenson Boone (#3). The 4th most viral song is “Lose Control” by Teddy Swims and “Good Luck, Babe!” by Chappell Roan round out the top 5.

Audiobooks are Spotify’s latest venture. Starting tests in the US in 2022, over years Spotify has expanded audiobooks globally and last year gave Premium subscribers access to a number of hours of audiobook listening every month.
