Are All Covers Really Worse Than The Originals?

It seems to generally be a yes. It seems to us though, that people just adore the originals so much that they don’t even listen to the cover versions and arrogantly burst out with a little squeaky ”the originals better”, just in the same way that people fancy themselves more intellectual because they don’t watch films and start their self righteous rants with “the books better than the film”. That’s not always the case, Lord Of The Rings books are ace but, we don’t need to know every tiny piece of history about the castle in the distance that the fellowship don’t actually visit in the end ever. The movie came up with some super effects I never could have imagined reading the books as a kid. Everyone thinks it, but nobody admits it, like im sure if you listen carefully enough you can hear on the wind “Futurama is better than the Simpsons”. The same is with songs, some covers are better definitely better than the originals. So with the Internet full of bloggers and music fans that all know they’re right like we knew the world was flat, were gonna throw out a reasonable 10 to start the debate. (Richard Cheese is in there for fun, an if you haven’t heard it already, then you should!)

  • I fought the law – The Clash (The Bobby Fuller Band)
  • Live and Let Die – Guns and Roses (Paul McCartney)
  • Hallelujah - Jeff Buckley ( Leonard Cohen)
  • All Along The Watchtower – Jimmi Hendrix (Bob Dylan)
  • It Must Be Love – Madness (Labi Siffre)
  • Hurt – Johnny Cash (NIN)
  • Whisky in the jar – Metallica (The Dubliners)
  • Daddy Cool – Placebo (Boney M)
  • Nobody does it better – Radiohead (Carly Simon)
  • Creep – Richard Cheese (Radiohead)

The Metallica Pinball Table I Wish I Had in Our Office!

I know Dashiel in the office here is very jealous of the BitMob team who got to play the new Metallica pinball game which is yet to be released. The table itself looks lightning fast and a little hard to even see the ball when it is at the top of the table, but who really cares cause it looks like a great game. I would love to have a pinball machine like this in our office, but I’m sure if it was added no one would do much work!

Metallica Gets Their Own Branded Version of Guitar Hero

Metallicas has finally confirmed that they will be getting their own Guitar Hero branded game. It was confirmed on the Metallica website and will likely be released in the first half of 2009.

The game allows you to play as us in either single instrument or band career game modes.

Adding to the atmosphere will be famous setting associated with the band’s career, including Moscow’s Tushino Airfield, the site of the 1991 Monsters of Rock concert, and “new venues with in-the-round staging.”

There will be 28 Metallica songs in all, although the full list has not yet been announced. Songs from Alice In Chains, Foo Fighters, Slayer, Machine Head and Queen can also be played.

Lastly, in a feature sure to thrill Lars Ulrich devotees, “Guitar Hero: Metallica” will boast an “expert” difficulty level that employs two bass drum kick pedals. The Metallica edition follows an Aerosmith-dedicated “Guitar Hero,” which was released in June.
