TikTok expands its “Add to Music App” feature, letting users easily save new tracks to SoundCloud as they discover them on TikTok.

TikTok now includes SoundCloud music integration

TikTok launched their “Add to Music App” feature in late November 2023 with Spotify and Amazon Music, and has since rolled out the feature to more platforms and countries. Now, SoundCloud is the latest to join the mix.

Through the expansion of the “Add to Music App” feature, more users now have the freedom to save the tracks they love to their go-to streaming platform. This integration lets music fans seamlessly add songs discovered on TikTok directly to SoundCloud.

“SoundCloud has always been the go-to platform for discovering what’s next in music, from emerging artists to breakout genres. Partnering with TikTok makes it easier than ever for fans to save the songs they love and stay connected with the artists behind them.”

Emmy Lovell, SoundCloud’s Global Head of Music

How does it work?

The process is simple. When a user hears a track they like on TikTok’s For You Page, they can click the “Add Song” button that appears next to the track name at the bottom. Alternatively, you can find the option appears on the song’s Sound Detail Page.

After selecting a preferred music app for the first time, TikTok will save that choice as default for future track saves. Users can change their preferred platform at any time by heading to Settings and Privacy within TikTok.

Good news for artists

The “Add to Music App” feature makes it easier than ever for TikTok users to transition from discovery to listening. According to TikTok, the tool has already generated over a billion track saves, and many more streams- underlining the potential impact that the feature has on music consumption and artist exposure.

For those artists starting out, integrations like this could mean more saves, more plays, and deeper connections with those who go beyond listening to a snippet on TikTok. In doing so, it could help turn casual listeners into superfans that support your career long-term.

A natural fit

TikTok and SoundCloud are both known for shaping early music trends and spotlighting new artists. Both platforms help shape music discovery, with this feature helping to boost this by giving fans a quick way to save and revisit tracks they stumble upon.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with SoundCloud – the leading platform helping artists to bring their music from concept to audience – to support emerging and aspiring artists in reaching new fans and superfans on TikTok.”
