TikTok reveals their Songs of the Summer 2024
TikTok have revealed whether 2024 is all about about Brat Summer and what other songs are defining the summer this year.
In case you didn’t know what’s hot in speakers this year, TikTok have dropped their definitive list of this Summer’s defining hits. TikTok’s Songs of the Summer feature the tracks that they’ve seen blow up in content across their platform.
They write: “Country blockbuster tracks and eighties dancing, opening ceremony performances and rising female stars across K-pop, hip-hop, afrobeats, and more: The summer’s biggest moments have been popping off on TikTok.”
TikTok have collected the top tracks for both the U.S. and the world at large. The lists share some hits but there are clear differences separating the season’s vibes in the US from the soundtracks felt around the rest of the world.
Tommy Richman’s ‘MILLION DOLLAR BABY’ dominates the US chart at number 1 and also comes a respectable 3rd on the global charts. Whilst critics have praised the song for its unique sound and vocals, creators have helped to boost the song with a dance trend that took off around the globe.
Tommy Richman said: “I’m very blessed about what has transpired this year. I made this song with all of my friends and I’m just so excited that our flowers were given from this creation. It took on a life of its own that I could have never imagined. I’m thankful for everyone that’s listening.”
‘Nasty’ by Tinashe found an impressive #2 on both top lists. Tinashe says: “Thank you to all my amazing fans who made ‘Nasty’ the #1 Song of the Summer in the UK and #2 globally! It’s been so fun and incredible to watch all the videos you have been making on TikTok. I love them all! I’m super grateful for your continued support and hope you all enjoy making more content to the rest of my album Quantum Baby.”
The global Songs of the Summer list was topped by this year’s biggest Latin track ‘Gata Only’. Chilean artists FloyyMenor and Cris MJ came together for the hit song which has sparked over 15 million creation on TikTok. ‘Gata Only’ represents the first time a Chilean artist has entered the Billboard Hot Latin songs since 1999!
