The beloved speaker makers have launched their very own radio streaming service offering high definition music and curation from iconic names.

Sonos Radio HD has just launched and offers a bunch of high definition radio stations to stream for $7.99/£7.99 a month. The service is their first paid subscription following their ad-supported radio service launched in April.

The stations’ music selections are managed by a bunch of ‘expert curators’ as well as notable artists, including the one-and-only Dolly Parton. Parton’s offering is called Songteller Radio and will be accompanied by five other new artist stations released in early 2021. They have plans to regularly release new stations, assuming the service is a success.

Sonos report that the amount of time spent listening to their speakers has increased 40% year-on-year. With radio making up 50% of that listening time, it is clear that the company wants people to not only use their speakers but provide their own listening experiences once they’re using their speakers to cover all bases.

Sonos CEO, Patrick Spence says: “Sonos Radio is a result of our unwavering commitment to great sound experiences – thoughtfully curated music in incredible sound from the moment our customers set-up.”
