Sennheiser launches open earbuds that are cheaper in the UK than the US
If you’re looking for affordable earbuds that keep you aware of your surroundings, take a look at the Accentum Open earbuds.
Sennheiser has just launched the Accentum Open earbuds, the first open-ear design in its more affordable Accentum range. They’re small, stylish and packed with features that make them perfect for music fans who want to stay aware of their surroundings while listening.
These are what Sennheiser calls “open” true wireless earbuds. That means they don’t go deep into your ear canal, letting you hear what’s going on around you. It’s the same concept Apple’s original AirPods used, and it’s making a comeback as more listeners want a break from total noise-cancelling silence.
But here’s where it gets interesting: how much you’ll pay depends on where you live. In the UK, they cost just £69.99. In Europe, they’re €89.90 (around $102), and in Canada, they’ll go for CAD$149.95 (about $109). But if you’re in the US, expect to pay $129.95 when they ship in early June.
That price hike isn’t due to extra features. It’s most likely a result of recent trade policy. As the article reports, the higher US price is “presumably to offset increased import costs thanks to Trump’s recent tariffs.”
So, while these are meant to be affordable earbuds, they’re a lot more affordable outside the States—especially when you remember that UK and EU prices include tax.
Still, you’re getting a good amount for the money. Each earbud contains an 11mm driver that delivers a natural, open sound with a clear midrange and gentle bass, perfect for day-long listening without fatigue. They also come with dual beamforming microphones that help pick up your voice clearly during calls, while reducing background noise.
Battery life is solid too. You get 6.5 hours of listening on a single charge and up to 28 hours in total with the charging case. If you’re in a rush, a 10-minute fast charge gives you about 90 minutes of playback. Charging is done via USB-C, and the case is compact enough to fit easily into your pocket.
They’re super light as well, weighing just 4.4 grams per earbud. The open design means you don’t need to push them deep into your ears, which makes them really comfortable for long sessions in the studio, on stage, or just out and about.
They also support Bluetooth 5.3 for a stable connection and low power use, along with multipoint pairing. That means you can stay connected to two devices at the same time, like switching between your phone and your laptop, without any hassle.
The Accentum Open earbuds come in two colour options: black or metallic sand. Both finishes have a sleek, minimal design with touch controls on each bud for playback, calls, and voice assistants.
The Accentum Open earbuds are a solid new option for anyone after comfort, awareness, and reliable audio on the go. They’re already on sale in the UK and Europe, with US availability coming in June at a slightly steeper price. If they fit your style and budget, they’re well worth a look.
