Meta’s text-based social media app just launched another feature to bring it closer in line with competitor Twitter/X.

In what Head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri claims as “one of the most requested features”, Threads are starting to roll out the ability to search for posts. Since launch, Threads has had a search tab in the navigation bar along the bottom, however, until now, that has been exclusively to find other Threads users.

Still in the testing stage, search on Threads is being rolled out in Australia and New Zealand, before expanding to more English-speaking countries.

To get started, tap the magnifying glass icon at the bottom of the app and enter your search term. This will return accounts with those words in their username. All you need to do is tap “Search for …” at the top of the results, to view posts with those words in the caption.

This new feature follows the recent launch of Threads on desktop. Other upcoming features Threads are working on includes an edit button, multiple account support, hashtags, translation and access from the EU.
