Who says busking is just for guitarists and singers? Take your DJing skills on the road with Numark’s PT01 Scratch portable turntable.

Renowned DJ deck and tech creators, Numark, have come out with their latest device, a battery powered turntable. With a name like PT01 Scratch you can probably assume that it’s not meant for taking your favourite Zeppelin vinyls on a road trip, rather it’s for DJ’s to cut and scratch their heart out with no limit to where they can go.

The PT01 Scratch has been designed for easy portability so as you can imagine, there’s only the one deck. So how will you play a background beat to scratch over? As if Numark didn’t think of that – Numark have a 1/8″ stereo input on the PT01 Scratch so you can connect your phone, laptop, etc. and play accompanying beats.

The PT01 Scratch has a built-in speaker so you’re never at a loss but it’s at it’s best when outputted to a speaker or other equipment through the RCA stereo outputs. You can also output it via a headphone jack to smaller speakers or to your headphones if you want a private mixing sesh.

Numark have included an ‘Adjustable Scratch Switch™’ that makes scratching your records like spreading butter. It’s also adjustable so that left-handed and right-handed people can easily switch to suit their scratching style. Plus Numark claim that their scratch and slide switch performs longer than ordinary sliders and is also easily replaceable.

If you really like what you’re scratching you can connect the turntable to a computer with USB and record it with free software. You can also record vinyl normally if you want a digital copy of your favourite records. Finally the PT01 Scratch runs from an AC outlet as well as batteries, so you won’t be burning through batteries just to quickly scratch at home.
