Nembrini Audio has released a plugin emulation for a world renowned guitar and bass pre amplifier – TriAxis.

Cali Axis is modelled after the infamous and now discontinued TriAxis preamplifier from Mesa Boogie. Thanks to users such as John Petrucci from Metallica, the TriAxis preamp has become something of a legendary piece of gear. In addition to MIDI connectivity, it offers 8 different preamp circuits, earning it the bragging rights of “an arsenal of the most powerful guitar tones available in the world”.

In the same spirit, Nembrini Audio’s Cali Axis guitar amplifier VST plugin offers eight separate modes that “deliver the elusive creamy gain of the Mk I, the heralded focus of the Mk I, the scooped Rhythm of the Mk IV, and a modified British lead mode.”

In the middle of the interface sits a MODERN button which changes the negative feedback and gives your signal a more “modern” presence. Meanwhile, the plugin is loaded ith an FX rack featuring 8 effects which you can customise and reorder however you like. These include two filters, a noise gate tuned for guitar and bass, a compressor, a pre-amplifier, a modulation module with options for chorus and tremolo effects, a PWR amp powered by virtual tubes with presence, resonance, volume and power switch controls, as well as a reverb poqweed by a hall reverb algorithm.

Furthermore, the filters offer a couple of configurations to choose from. Find them below, as listed by Nembrini Audio:

  • TIGHT: Clockwise rotation reduces low-frequency content tightening the low range, suitable for 7/8 strings guitars.
  • RUMBLING: Clockwise rotation reduces low-frequency content.
  • HARSH: Clockwise rotation reduces high-frequency content.

Finally, Cali Axis offers six different guitar cabinets, four microphone emulations with varying positions, as well as continuous position and distance knobs. Equally cool is the Impulse Loader where you can load up to three third-party impulse responses that you can mix together with volume, pan, phase, solo and mute controls.
