LG Tone Free HBS-FN6 – self-cleaning wireless earbuds review
On the surface, LG’s Tone Free earbuds may appear to be yet another AirPods Pro competitor, but they hold one unique feature that set them apart from anything we’ve ever seen.
LG Tone Free HBS-FN6 feature a familiar AirPods Pro-like stem design, but sit apart from all competitors. HBS-FN6’s superpower keeps bateria from building up on the speaker mesh. UVnano, a disinfectant light on the charging case, removes 99.9% of bacteria in just ten minutes while charging.
None of this would be useful if the earbuds fell short in all other categories. Luckily, LG’s Tone Free earbuds tick all the right boxes.
Sound is designed with the help of British hi-fi audio manufacturer Meridian Audio. Meridian effectively managed to shrink their audio know-how into such a small device, that produce great, clear and immersive sound quality, with a good amount of bass without being overpowering.

While the LG Tone Free’s fail to deliver ANC, the in-ear seal provides a solid amount of noise isolation, with three tip size options. The compact case charges wirelessly or via USB-C and comes in matte black or glossy white depending on the varient you choose. IPX4 water resistance will keep the earbuds safe from splashes and rain.
LG Tone Free’s connect via Bluetooth 5.0, with Fast Pair on Android devices. The earbuds manage 6 hours of playback on a single charge, with an extra 12 hours in the charging case. Five minutes of fast charging gives one hour of playback. Noise reduction, echo cancellation and dual microphones ensure clear calls even with background noise. Automatic ear detection will auto-pause music when one earbuds is removed.
Download the iPhone or Android app to customise EQ settings and save as a preset to quickly access and adjust. LG also include four Meridian HSP (Headphone Spatial Processing) presets: Immersive, Natural, Bass Boost, Treble Boost. Customisable touch controls allow for play/pause, track skip, voice assistant and volume adjustments. Enable Ambient Sound Mode with a tap to hear surroundings. The Find My Earbuds feature on the app helps locate your earbuds by playing a sound increasing in volume.
