Film 4 have confirmed that they are backing the making of a biopic, focussing on the life of Joe Strummer, frontman of 70’s punk band The Clash.

Although the Clash were undeniably a great band and arguably the best punk band of all time, apart from the months of his life in which he was “missing” in Paris, I’m not sure how colourful Joe’s life was that it should deserve an entire biopic dedicated to it alone. Especially when you consider that there was a fairly substantial documentary made only in 2007.

Still, this will no doubt excite Clash fans and possibly create a few more fans in the process, which can only be considered a good thing.

The project is currently running under the title “Joe Public” and there are no hints at a release date or even a leading actor.
