Indian music streaming service JioSaavn just published the ‘Best of 2022’ article, showing the most popular content on the platform last year.

JioSaavn have analysed data on the music streaming service between December 2021 and November 2022, to pull together the Best of 2022.

According to the leading music streaming platform in India, 10am to 2pm accounted for 45% of total streams, while Saturday was the most popular day to tune in. Popular genres included Bollywood, Duet, Desi-indie, Telugu film, Devotional, Desi Hip Hop and Kollywood.

Hindi and English were the most-streamed languages, followed by Telugu with over 2 billion streams, Punjabi with over 1 billion streams, Tamil and Kannada both with over 900 million streams, and Bhojpuri with over 850 million streams. Other popular languages on JioSaavn included Haryanvi with over 300 million streams, Bengali with over 270 million streams, and Marathi with over 250 million streams.

The top three Telugu songs in 2022 were Kalaavathi from Sarkaru Vaari Paata, Tillu Anna DJ Pedithe from DJ Tillu, and Mehabooba from KGF: Chapter 2. Other songs that topped the list were Bullet Song from The Warriorr, Komuram Bheemudo from RRR, and Halamithi Habibo from Beast.

Dhokha by Arijit Singh, Kesariya, Maiyya Mainu, Kuch Baatein, and Tumse Pyaar Karke were at the top of the Hindi chart last year on JioSaavn.

For English content, As It Was by Harry Styles scored the top of the Chartbusters playlist, followed by Calm Down by Rema and Selena Gomez, and Light Switch by Charlie Puth. Indian artists Badshah and Armaan Malik also landed in the top 5 of the English Chartbusters playlist with hits Voodoo and You.

Sidhu Moose Wala came out top of the Punjabi music list, with hits like Levels and The Last Ride. Other top artists include A.P. Dhillon, Gurnam Bhullar, Shubh, and B.Praak, along with top songs like Never Fold, Pasoori, and Beliya. Popular Punjabi playlists include Let’s Play – Sidhu Moose Wala, and Punjabi Chartbusters.

Top of the Tamil charts was Anirudh Ravichander with tracks like Arabic Kuthu, Megham Karukatha, Vikram (Title Track), Jalabulanjangu, and Pathala Pathala. Other popular artists were Jonita Gandhi, Dhanush, Rokesh, and Kamaal Hasan.

The top songs on the Kannada playlists were Singara Siriye, Jagave Nenu Gelathiye, Varaha Roopam Daiva Va Rishtam, Ra Ra Rakkamma, and Belakina Kavithe.

Haryanvi listeners tuned into artists like G.D. Kaur and Masoom Sharma with tunes like Chand and Gypsy the most.

Finally, the top Bhojpuri content came from songs like Le Le Aayi Coca Cola and Nathuniya by Khesari Lal Yadav.

Music wasn’t the only thing listeners turned to JioSaavn for. Storytelling was the top category for podcasts on the streaming service in 2022. Other popular topics included Religion & Spirituality, Culture & Arts, and Music. The most streamed podcast was Dil Mein Ho Tum – Romantic Audiobook By Monika Patidar. Other popular podcasts included The Stories of Mahabharata, Jai Bajrangi, Kabir ke Dohe, and Shri Krishna Amritvani.

JioSaavn users also get access to JioTunes. JioTunes changes the usual dialling tone that greets your callers with a tune of your choice. The top JioTunes in 2022 were Kesariya, Dhokha, Calm Down, and You.
