You can expect to see the vinyl player in IKEA stores next month!

The turntable is part of the OBEGRÄNSAD (Swedish for ‘unlimited’) collection and has been designed in collaboration with the Swedish House Mafia, reports MusicTech.

The turntable is set to launch globally in October. Moreover, the turntable is part of IKEA’s budget-friendly music-related furnishing products explicitly designed for making and listening to music at home.

With the OBEGRÄNSAD collection, Swedish House Mafia and IKEA aim to democratize music production at home and enable the many to unleash their passions and creativity.

IKEA and Swedish House Mafia

The minimalistic turntable has been made with the nostalgia of the “listening experience with vinyl records” in mind. But unlike classic turntables, the OBEGRÄNSAD record player is USB powered.

And we can connect it to wireless speakers or we can also connect it to more advanced sound systems with an adapter.

Furthermore, the device comes with a replaceable needle and cartridge too. Its construction is “sound and solid”, which IKEA states can “absorb any vibrations from where the record player sits”.

We wanted to simplify the process for people to create music. Hopefully, our collection inspires and enables more people to be more creative within their homes, and it does not have to be restricted to only music making. It can be so much more.

What’s probably most obvious about the OBEGRÄNSAD turntable is its prominent design.

Today you see a lot of slim record players that are almost trying to hide, but we wanted something very bold, and we wanted the record player to be a very physical manifestation of music. The square and the circle together, the chunkiness of the whole piece – it gives just the statement that we wanted for the record player.

The OBEGRÄNSAD collection also includes studio essentials such as a desk and an armchair, all of which have a minimalistic design.
