YouTube have announced new tools to detect AI content, but how can artists ensure they’re used to protect their content?

AI has revolutionised countless industries, and music is no exception. While it offers exciting opportunities for creativity and experimentation, it also presents new challenges for artists. These tools include identification technology that can pick up on artificially generated vocals. The tool will bolster their Content ID system, which generates copyright music, and will allow easy management of AI generated content.

YouTube’s existing Content ID system will be further refined to provide more granular control over AI-generated content. This will help prevent AI-generated content from being used without the artist’s permission, preserving the integrity of their work, and potentially increasing their revenue from legitimate licensing and distribution.

Additionally, YouTube is developing face detection technology that will enable artists to detect and manage AI-generated content that depicts their faces on YouTube. They have implemented safeguards to prevent the misuse of AI tools and have emphasised the importance of creators reviewing AI-generated content carefully before publishing it.
