Talks between Microsoft and Discord have broken down and the gaming focused voice chat software will remain an independent company, for now.

We recently reported that the popular voice chat software Discord was potentially being acquired by Microsoft for a whopping $10 Billion. Epic and Amazon were also rumoured to be interested in purchasing Discord.

However, according to the Wall Street Journal, Discord has decided to remain an independent company and won’t be selling to any interested party at this moment.

Discord is now potentially looking to make the company public, but Microsoft’s deal is rumoured to be still on the table to “rekindled” at a later date.

We will have to wait and see what Discord decides to do either way. One thing is for certain though, the company is set to make a lot of money.
