This Friday, 6th October 2017, will mark the very first World Guitar Day, an online celebration of everything guitar and guitar related.

World Guitar Day will debut with a host of exclusive interviews, live Q&A’s, blogs, and more with some of the world’s most famous and talented guitarists. They will be sharing stories of their musical careers, tips on the guitar, discussing, arguing and poring over the worlds most popular instrument (probably, you’ll have to fact check that).

Two major players already confirmed to be joining the celebrations are blues aficionado Joe Bonamassa who will take part in an exclusive, brand new and in-depth interview. Joe Satriani has also been confirmed to be taking part, answering questions live on Facebook throughout the day.

The day will feature a bunch of guitar-oriented workshops and info, with even free guitar lessons going for aspiring players who are looking for some key advice. Guitarists with a bit more experience behind them will be able to improve their technique, sound and songwriting with tips and tutorials from experts.

It’s not just about the skill and talent of guitarists and the guitar but World Guitar Day will also have a focus and celebration of the guitar’s psychological effects. That includes the way playing the guitar can change and boost your mood as well as the potential mental health benefits in playing an instrument, or just music in general.

You can get involved in the lead up to the big day including a vote on the ‘Greatest Guitar Riff Ever’, a chance to share your guitar rig setup, as well as inspiring others with their guitar stories. The event will be hosted by a variety of music and guitar-oriented outlets, such as GuitaristTotal GuitarGuitar TechniquesClassic RockMetal Hammer and TeamRock Radio.

World Guitar Day will be hosted on MusicRadar.com and TeamRock.com. Spread the word with the official hashtag #WGD17 and get involved with the biggest celebration of guitar in 2017.
