Apple acquires virtual reality startup NextVR

Apple have bought live sport, music and entertainment VR events host NextVR.

It is unknown how much this cost Apple, but reports estimate around $100 million. NextVR work with companies such as Live Nation and Central Station to broacast live VR concerts, music experiences and more.

It’s common practice for tech companies like Apple to buy startups without any intention of integrating their core products into their business, instead implementing their technology or teams into Apple. Although we know Apple is investing a lot in VR, don’t assume this confirms Apple’s jumping in to VR sports or music in a big way any time soon.
