ACEFAST ACEFIT Pro review: Are they $50 better than the ACEFIT Air?
The ACEFAST ACEFIT Pro bring lights to the ACEFIT Air open-design earbuds, making them even more suitable to sports and exercise.
ACEFAST are back again with the ACEFIT Pro. We have previously reviewed the ACEFAST Crystal T6 and T8 earbuds, then earlier this year, we tested the ACEFIT Air – a pair of budget open earbuds. ACEFIT Pro takes all that was excellent about the ACEFIT Air, adding light-up elements to the case and earbuds themselves, to make battery status clear, help you stay visable in the dark and add a unique flair to them.
Unboxing
The ACEFAST ACEFIT Pro are packaged in a large but thin box, with the top of the case popping out of the front. Inside, you’ll find first and foremost the charging case, housing the earbuds, followed by the instruction manual and charging cable. The included cable is a flat USB-C to USB-C cable, with a right angle on one end, which means you can neatly prop up the case while charging using the port on the bottom.

Design
Where the ACEFIT Pro differ from the ACEFIT Air is the design of the case and earbuds. The oval shaped case is large, but thin and light at, 82.9 x 63.9 x 27mm and 75.2g. It has a plastic transparent top and plastic glossy back. It looks nice new, but would likely develop scratches over time. The model we’re testing is green, but ACEFAST also sells silver, pink and purple models. There’s a display on the top of the lid that displays the battery percentage and status of each bud when opening, closing and charging the case. On the inside of the case, there’s a light that can be customized in the app to show one of eight colors.

The earbuds are the same color as the case, but also have light-up and transparent elements, allowing you to see through to the chip inside. They are an open design, with a 0.7mm titanium wire ear hook, wrapped in a soft silicone. At just 7.8g per earbud, they are super light-weight, which is great as you can easily forget they’re there when worn. They don’t interfere with my glasses and are secure in place, not falling off when shaking my head. The earbuds alone are rated IP54 waterproof, which will protect against dust, sweat and rain.
The earbuds have 40 breathing lights, which can be turned on in the app or through tapping the buds. ACEFAST calls it “Night Safety Mode”, saying they are suitable for night sports, however don’t be mislead, the lights are very small and discreet. They won’t sufficiently light you and your surroundings in the dark.

Set up
The first time you open the case, there’s a small piece of film between the case and the earbuds. Make sure you remove this before attempting to connect. When the film is remove, the lid is open and the earbuds aren’t connected to anything, they will automatically enter pairing mode, shown by the earbuds flashing. After pairing the first time, they connected to my phone automatically as soon as I took them out of the case.

The earbuds connect via Bluetooth 5.4 and support multi-point, which enables two connections at the same time. Set-up was fairly easy. After pairing with your primary device (device A), put the earbuds back in the case and disconnect from device A. With the lid open and nothing connected, the earbuds will then go back into pairing mode. Pair with device B and then manually reconnect with device A, and you’ll be good to go. The earbuds instantly switch depending on the device playing media.

Internals and sound quality
The earbud features a three-magnet ultra-linear multi-circuit moving coil and 20 x 8mm driver, utilising ACEFAST’s BassPulseAudio technology. The ACEFIT Pro sound fine. They get loud enough that they can be used in noisy environments with minimal sound leakage. You will be sacrificing some bass with an open pair of earbuds like these, however this may not be important if you mostly listen to spoken word content like podcasts and audiobooks.
There’s two microphones on each earbud, one to pick up your voice and the other used to cancel out outside noise using ENC call noise reduction technology.

Touch controls
Unfortunately the earbuds don’t have sensors to automatically play or pause content when the earbuds are put in or removed from the ear. They do however have responsive touch controls. You can customize what a single, double, triple, quadruple or long tap does for the left and right earbud independently. This can answer/end calls, play/pause music, go to the next/previous track, turn volume up/down, activate the voice assistant, or switch the lights on/off.

App
You can connect, play music and control the earbuds without downloading the app, however the app will give you additional functionality. The app shows the battery status of each earbud and the case. You can also turn on the lighting effects, customize the case light color, customize the touch controls, customize the sound with presets and a fully customize 8-band EQ, and apply firmware updates.

Battery performance
The battery life in the earbuds is good for 6 hours on a single charge or 25 hours when paired with the case. The case supports fast charging, giving you 2 hours of playback from a 10-minute charge. The case charges via USB-C. No wireless charing here, unfortunately.
Pricing and availability
The ACEFAST ACEFIT Pro started as a Kickstarter and quickly shot past its target, with 426 backers. They are now generally available worldwide. They cost $125.99 on Amazon, however buyers can get 20% off using coupon code: VEQHLJ3Y. If you’re not bothered about the light and transparent elements, I’d recommend their cheaper ACEFIT Air, which are $67.99 on Amazon currently.
