The infamous London studio via its start-up arm Abbey Road Red has acquired Audiomovers, a remote production and music collaboration tech start-up.

Audiomovers is a new audio tech start-up that allows music professionals to stream, listen, and record high-resolution multichannel remote audio in realtime, with multiple collaborators. 

It’s a landmark moment as the Universal-owned recording studio entered the remote music production space. 

The start-up was started in 2017 by Igor Maxymenko and Yuriy Shevyrov, Abbey road stated that Audiomovers “quickly gained recognition during the pandemic” amongst producers, songwriters, and mixers who in lockdown were able to collaborate and create remotely. 

Audiomovers will retain their name as well as the same founders who will focus on product and technology whilst benefiting from the support of Abbey Road Studios’ resources and expertise. 

The platform is run as a subscription service priced at $3.99 per week, $9.99 per month, or $99.99 per year, there are also free weekly trails available worldwide. It also supports lossless multichannel audio, up to 7.1 surround and also includes a wide range of plugins, listento and Listento receiver, as well as mobile apps, and beta desktop software dropping soon. 

Speaking on the acquisition Isabel Garvey, Abbey Road’s Managing Director said: “In the past year we’ve seen 100% of studio sessions requiring some level of remote access and the name Audiomovers being repeatedly mentioned. 

“We believe the shift to remote music production is here to stay and we want to be part of this new world, supporting music-making in all its forms, no matter where creators might be located.” She continues, “It’s a natural extension for Abbey Road, enabling creativity beyond the physical building.”
