Bandcamp are relinquishing their fees for a whole day tomorrow to help artists to cope through the setbacks caused by Coronavirus.

A lot of artists are already suffering thanks to the Coronavirus pandemic. Gigs and tours across the world have been cancelled leaving many performing artists without an income. Tomorrow Bandcamp will give all revenues from sales to the artists to help them out.

Friday, March 20th Bandcamp won’t take any fees when sales are made for 24 hours – midnight to midnight Pacific Time. They’re hoping that an increased revenue stream will help artists, especially if they push fans to buy tomorrow specifically.

Bandcamp Co-Founder and CEO, Ethan Diamond wrote: “For many artists, a single day of boosted sales can mean the difference between being able to pay rent or not. Still, we consider this just a starting point. Musicians will continue to feel the effects of lost touring income for many months to come, so we’re also sharing some ideas below on how fans can support the artists they love and how artists can give fans new, creative ways to provide support.

“It may sound simple, but the best way to help artists is with your direct financial support, and we hope you’ll join us on Friday and through the coming months as we work to support artists in this challenging time.”

In a post announcing their move for this Friday they have also shared some advice for artists and fans in this time, particularly with tips for artists on boosting their sales: https://daily.bandcamp.com/features/bandcamp-covid-19-fundraiser
