Spotify Music Quiz expands to more than 2,000 artists
Think you know your favourite artists inside out? Spotify’s Music Quiz challenges fans to recognise tracks, recall career milestones and put their music knowledge to the test.
Spotify is rolling out its Music Quiz feature to 11 countries, giving Premium subscribers a chance to test their knowledge of more than 2,000 artists through music trivia, album artwork and audio clips.
Announced on the 6th of October, the expansion follows Spotify’s initial BTS-themed quiz earlier this year. The new experience covers a much wider range of artists, with more quizzes, languages and markets planned for the future.
How Spotify Music Quiz works
ng moments. Players can tackle trivia, identify album covers as they’re revealed and name songs from short audio previews.
To get started, listeners need to:
- Update Spotify – Make sure the app is running the latest version.
- Find Music Quiz – Play a track by a participating artist and scroll down in the Now Playing view to find the Music Quiz card.
- Start the quiz – Tap the card to answer questions about the artist and their music.
- Check your score – Finish the quiz to see how you performed.
- Share your results – Challenge friends to see how their scores compare.
The feature is rolling out to Spotify Premium subscribers aged 18 and over in the US, UK, Canada, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, India, Nigeria, South Africa and Indonesia.
Quizzes for selected artists are available in English at launch. Spotify says more artists, languages and markets will follow, although the gradual rollout means the feature might not appear for every eligible listener straight away.
Spotify joins the music quiz trend
Spotify isn’t the first streaming platform to experiment with music quizzes. In 2022, Deezer introduced its own quizzes, allowing listeners to test their knowledge of songs across different artists, genres and themes.
Users could also share their scores with friends. Spotify’s expanded version takes a more artist-focused approach, with questions drawing on individual catalogues and career histories.
For artists, the feature is another example of streaming platforms exploring ways to make music listening more interactive. There’s no guarantee that appearing in a quiz will increase streams or that every artist will be included. However, questions spanning an artist’s releases and career give dedicated fans another reason to revisit their music.
For now, listeners can check for the Music Quiz card beneath a participating artist’s tracks in Spotify and see how well they know their favourites.
