Ticketmaster caps Olivia Dean ticket resale prices after artist’s criticism
After Olivia Dean called out “disgusting” ticket prices, Ticketmaster stepped in with major changes. Here’s what happened and what it means for fans.
Ticketmaster has moved to cap resale prices for Olivia Dean’s upcoming tour after the singer publicly criticised the company for allowing inflated mark-ups on her tickets.
Tickets for Dean’s 2026 The Art of Loving tour sold out within minutes, but fans quickly discovered resellers listing seats at extreme prices. Some resale tickets were being offered for several times their original value, prompting a wave of frustration online. Dean herself stepped in, calling out Ticketmaster, Live Nation, and AEG for what she described as “a disgusting service,” arguing that fans shouldn’t be priced out of seeing live music.
Following the backlash, Ticketmaster activated its “Face Value Exchange” for the tour. This means resold tickets on the official platform cannot exceed their original price, effectively blocking scalpers from profiting off demand. The company also pledged to refund fans who had already purchased resale tickets at inflated prices.
A spokesperson for Live Nation said the decision was part of a wider effort to keep live events accessible and fair, adding that the company hopes other resale marketplaces will follow their lead. While Ticketmaster can’t impose face-value caps on third-party websites, it encouraged them to adopt similar limits.
The move comes as public frustration around ticketing practices continues to grow, with many artists and fans calling for stronger protections against scalping and price gouging. For Olivia Dean’s fans, at least, the policy change should help level the playing field and ensure more people can see her perform without facing inflated costs.
