A new feature launching globally today allows you to instantly save tracks from Instagram to your Spotify “Liked Songs” playlist.

Meta are partnering with Spotify to launch a nifty new feature on Instagram. Recently TikTok has been pushing their “Add to music app” feature, which allows users to save a track they discover on TikTok to Spotify, Apple Music or Amazon Music. After tests last year, today Spotify launches a similar “Add to Spotify” feature.

How to save music from Instagram to Spotify

The new integration is rolling out globally on iOS and Android today. We found the feature available on one out of three accounts tested. If you’re yet to see the “Add” button, try updating Instagram.

  • Simply tap a song to go to the song’s audio page
  • Tap Add
  • If this your first time using the feature, you’ll need to follow the on-screen steps to link your account

And that’s it! The song will automatically be saved to your “Liked Songs” in “Your Library”, without needing to leave Instagram (after initial setup). Currently this is only available for Spotify. We’d love to see Instagram add the ability to save tracks to other music app in the future.

Meta also says they are starting to test the “Listening Now Notes” feature that was spotted in August. This allows users to constantly share what they’re listening to on Spotify via Instagram Music Notes. Tests are rolling out in Australia, Argentina, Thailand, Chile, and Canada over the coming weeks.

With both of these new features, never has it been so important to get your music live on all platforms. With RouteNote, users can upload releases to Spotify, Instagram and over a hundred other stores, streaming services and social media platforms for free!
