Oasis Vinyl Sales Soar as Reunion Tour Fever Takes Hold

The Manchester-based band, fronted by brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, confirmed their plans to reunite for a series of live concerts next summer.

This news has caused a wave of excitement among both longtime fans and a new generation of listeners, resulting in a significant spike in sales of their music.

HMV reported that sales of Oasis’s records and CDs jumped by an impressive 526% compared to the previous week.

Among the biggest sellers were some of the band’s most celebrated albums. The 1994 debut album Definitely Maybe saw a 443% increase in sales, while their 1995 follow-up (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? experienced an astonishing 684% surge.

The live album Knebworth 1996, which captures one of the band’s most famous performances, also saw a significant increase in sales, rising by 209%.

The excitement around the band’s reunion has also driven demand for new releases. Pre-orders for the 30th-anniversary edition of Definitely Maybe, released on Friday, doubled compared to the previous week.

This special edition has become a hot item among fans eager to commemorate the milestone and revisit the album that helped define the Britpop era.

Phil Halliday, managing director of HMV and its sister brand Fopp, has emphasized the enduring appeal of Oasis, noting that the surge in sales reflects the band’s lasting impact on British music.

“Oasis are a truly iconic band who have made such a positive impact on British music,” Halliday said. “It’s great to see so many people revisiting their vinyl catalogue, from classic releases like Definitely Maybe all the way through to the Knebworth LP.”

The renewed interest in Oasis’s music isn’t limited to physical formats. Streaming platforms have also reported a significant uptick in the band’s popularity.

Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming service, recorded a 690% increase in daily streams of Oasis songs globally since the reunion tour was announced.

Several of the band’s tracks have surged to the top of streaming charts, with nine Oasis songs now in Spotify’s top 40 and 23 in the top 100 most-played tracks in the UK.

The reunion tour, which is expected to be one of the most successful in British history, is projected to bring in hundreds of millions of pounds in ticket sales and related revenue having already sold out.

The tour will kick off at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium and include major venues such as Manchester’s Heaton Park, London’s Wembley Stadium, Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium, and Dublin’s Croke Park.
