Streaming service TIDAL has launched a new songwriter service to simplify royalty management for artists and contributors on their platform.

TIDAL, the premium music streaming service, has introduced a suite of new tools designed to streamline the royalty management process for songwriters. The platform’s songwriter services aim to ensure that songwriters receive accurate and timely compensation for their work.

Starting today, U.S. songwriters can utilize TIDAL’s Artist Home to claim and manage their catalogues. This user-friendly platform provides a centralised location for songwriters to organize their publisher information, register with the Mechanical Licensing Collective (MLC), and sign up with the PRO AllTrack.

Singer-songwriter Sabrina Song said: “As a songwriter who produces my own music, the new Tidal songwriter tool makes a noticeable difference by giving me a straight-forward look at my catalogue to make sure I’m getting accurate royalties.”

TIDAL’s songwriter services offer several key features:

  • Catalogue Management: Songwriters can easily view and organize their works into categories such as Completed Works, Works Without Recordings, and Unmatched Recordings.
  • Collaborative Split Sheets: The platform enables songwriters to invite collaborators to sign off on their shares, ensuring accurate ownership documentation.
  • Team Roles: Songwriters can grant access to their managers and publishers to assist with managing their works.
  • Metadata Management: Songwriters can view and edit their credits and metadata to ensure that their works are correctly matched and registered.

TIDAL’s Global Head of Product, Agustina Sacerdote explained: “Creating music sustainably in today’s world is difficult, especially for songwriters who need to establish and manage their identities in order to receive recognition and fulfil their earning potential.

“At TIDAL, we’re committed to supporting early stage and self-managed songwriters with handling their careers independently.” By simplifying the complex process of managing music metadata and royalties, TIDAL’s songwriter services aim to empower songwriters and ensure that they receive fair compensation for their work.
