YouTube are enhancing their miniplayer, which allows you to keep watching content as you explore the mobile app. Viewers will be able to change the size of the miniplayer and move it around to navigate between videos, channels, and content more easily.

Build the perfect playlist with collaborative playlists & more

YouTube are introducing collaborative playlists that allow you to create the perfect content list with friends and family. Users will be able to create a playlist and invite others to it with a special link or (on TV) a QR code.

Also coming to freshen up playlists are new customisation tools. Users can design their own thumbnails for playlists, using their own photos or creating new ones with generative AI.

Later in the year, YouTube will be adding the option to vote on videos in playlists, allowing collaborative playlists to be sorted by the very best content.

YouTube Sleep Timer feature

Fall Asleep to YouTube with confidence

YouTube are introducing a Sleep Timer to YouTube. This allows users to set a time limit after which YouTube will automatically pause videos. The feature should be a lifesaver to all those who love falling asleep to YouTube but find that too often their battery is drained by the morning.

YouTube: Collector’s Edition

YouTube are introducing more ways to show that you’re a fan of creators and channels. Badges are coming to YouTube and YouTube Music apps, celebrating unique milestones like being one of the first paid members on a channel or a quiz winner.

For the music lovers, users can earn badges for being a top listener or if a creator hearts the comments that they make on their content. Badges will be displayed in the “You” tab and roll out over the next few weeks.

A new look on TV

YouTube’s TV apps are getting a makeover with enhancements to “make your favourite content shine”. The visual changes that they’re bring to web and mobile will also be coming to TV.

YouTube promise subtle new changes like “pops of pink as well as other light touches” to reveal new elements. A new user interface helps users interact with Shorts on TV easier.

Immersive channel pages for YouTube’s TV experience are also on the way. A video will begin automatically playing on creator’s channels so that they get a taste for their content as they explore.
