Resso is the new music streaming app from TikTok’s parent company ByteDance.
Hoping to be a real Spotify competitor, Resso launched in India March 4th 2020.
Resso has been described as a social media streaming app. Giving users full length music streaming, as well as social integration by sharing lyrics, comments and user generated content with friends.
ByteDance have licensing agreements in place with Warner Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, Merlin and Beggars Group. There’s currently a substantial gap in Resso’s music library from Universal Music Group. Tencent (a major ByteDance competitor) owns a 10% stake in UMG.
No word yet on availability outside of India, but once successful testing has finished, hopefully we’ll see a global launch.
