YouTube has announced updates coming to the TV app, which keeps the video front and center while you view the description or comments.

In their annoucement, YouTube said more than one billion hours per day are spent watching YouTube on the TV. Now, YouTube are changing the layout of the TV app, while keeping basic interactions like pause, rewind and fast forward simple and intuitive for the remote control.

This update primarily changes the way the description, comments and other video details are displayed when watching a video. Previously, pulling up video details would cover a significant portion of the video. Now the panel is displayed alongside a reduced-size video player. This means engaging with videos won’t block the video itself.

The video details panel displays the title, views, likes, upload date, channel, description, comments and more details like products on shopping videos, scores on live sports and video chapters.

This update is rolling out over the next few weeks. Similar updates are also coming to YouTube TV subscribers, so that they can explore Views without disrupting the game. YouTube says they are exploring how to extend this update to support growing interactive experiences such as live chat, fantasy view and multiview.
