Why Morvala Festival is worth checking out this weekend
Heading to Cornwall this weekend? Discover why the brand-new Morvala Festival is one to watch, with a lineup featuring Embrace, Ash, Billie Marten, Hawkwind, and much more.
Festival season is well underway, and this weekend sees the launch of Morvala Festival, a brand-new event taking place from 26–28 June at the beautiful Mount Edgcumbe Country Park in Cornwall. Bringing together live music, comedy, wellness, literature, film, and art, it’s shaping up to be one of the South West’s most exciting new festivals.
Set against the backdrop of woodland and coastal views across Plymouth Sound, Morvala offers a relaxed alternative to some of the UK’s bigger festivals. Instead of rushing between huge stages, the weekend is all about discovering great music, exploring creative spaces, and making the most of a stunning location.
The music lineup is a strong one for a first-year festival. Across the weekend, you’ll be able to catch performances from Embrace, Hawkwind, Ash, The Feeling, Billie Marten, Fink, Flyte, The Pineapple Thief, Toploader, Turin Brakes, and Sleeping At Last, alongside dozens of emerging artists from across the UK. Whether you’re into indie, rock, folk, electronic music, or something a little more experimental, there’s plenty to discover.
Away from the stages, Morvala has packed the weekend with plenty of other things to do. There’ll be comedy performances, author talks, film screenings, workshops, wellness sessions, and family-friendly activities, giving people plenty of reasons to explore beyond the music. It’s the kind of festival where you can spend the afternoon discovering something unexpected before heading back to the main stage for your favourite band.
The location is another big part of the appeal. Mount Edgcumbe Country Park is one of Cornwall’s most picturesque settings, with open parkland, woodland, and sea views all around. Camping, campervans, and glamping are all available, making it easy to settle in for the whole weekend.
Morvala has also been put together by the team behind Kernowfornia Festival, with a clear focus on creating a welcoming atmosphere that celebrates both established artists and up-and-coming talent. It feels like a festival that’s just as interested in giving people new discoveries as it is in bringing in big names.
If you’re still deciding how to spend your weekend, Morvala offers a little bit of everything. Great live music, a beautiful setting, plenty to see between sets, and a laid-back atmosphere make it an easy addition to this summer’s festival calendar.
For a festival making its debut, Morvala has put together an impressive programme, and it’ll be interesting to see how it grows in the years ahead.
