we are hunted joins the twitter team

We Are Hunted was acquired by Twitter and they have now confirmed they are closing down their service to focus on building a Twitter music application.

The company’s homepage now explains that the service is shutting down, and what that means for users:

“We will continue to create services that will delight you, as part of the Twitter team. There’s no question that Twitter and music go well together. Artists turn to Twitter first to connect with fans, and people share and discover new songs and albums every day. We can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on at Twitter.”

We Are Hunted is still yet to comment on what their working on with Twitter and no figures have been disclosed about the acquisition. From what I understand it was basically an acqui-hire.

Update: AllThingsD are reporting that the new Twitter music application could launch as soon as today! Plus it seems like they have had good feedback from the beta test.
