Apple has just announced their next event, thought to include the launch of the iPhone 16 lineup, Apple Watch Series 10 and new AirPods.

Apple has started sending out invites to their event titled “It’s Glowtime”. Taking place on September 9, these events always showcase their new iPhones and Apple Watch, as well as provide more details on the software shown off earlier in the year at WWDC.

What will be announced at Apple’s event

As usual in terms of what will be announced, Apple are giving nothing away with their invites, however based on the timing, we can be pretty certain on at least a couple of products.

The highlight of the show is thought to be the iPhone 16 lineup. Beyond the usual processor upgrades in all phones, the lower priced iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are thought to receive the Action Button from last year’s Pro phones and get a new vertically aligned camera system on the back. Apple’s top-end iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max may see bigger screens, a new camera shutter button and bronze color.

Continuing on tradition, we are expected to see their next generation of smart watches. The Apple Watch Series 10 is expected to feature a refreshed design. The Apple Watch Ultra 3 is thought to see minor improvements.

Finally, we are expecting two new versions of the 4th generation, entry-level, non-Pro AirPods, that will replace the 2nd and 3rd generation AirPods that Apple sells.

Other products such as new Macs, AirPods Pro, HomePods, Apple Vision and iPads, are all thought to be in development, however some of these products aren’t quite ready. New M4 Macs and an iPad mini are expected to get their own October event as usual.

Outside of hardware, we will hear more about the public release of Apple’s software shown off at WWDC last June, including iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS 15, tvOS 18, visionOS 2 and watchOS 11. The biggest feature announced at WWDC was Apple’s take on generative AI. We know Apple Intelligence is coming to iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. We expect it will also make it’s way onto all iPhone 16 phones. The “Glowtime” tagline and imagery likely refers to the updated Siri. Hopefully we will hear exactly when some of these Intelligence features will drop.
