UK’s Liberal Democrats Would Remove the Digital Economy Act
The Liberal Democrats party popularity has been growing quickly in the last few weeks, that is mainly thanks for Nick Clegg’s performances in TV debates. Nick Clegg is now likely to get even more of a boost because the Liberal Democrats have stated that they would like to scrap or replace the Digital Economy Act that has just been passed.
“It was far too heavily weighted in favour of the big corporations and those who are worried about too much information becoming available. It badly needs to be repealed, and the issues revisited,” he says in an interview. His party later clarified that Clegg supports action to tackle illegal filesharing.
The Digital Economy Act was heavily criticised by the Liberal Democrats while it was being passed through parliament, so its not much of a surprise, but this could really sway some young voters.uk
