Top 20 best-selling vinyl records of 2023
The IFPI have published the Global Vinyl Album Chart for 2023, revealing the 20 physical records that sold the most last year.
The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), the organization representing the global recorded music industry, has unveiled the best selling vinyl records of 2023. These charts reveal the best selling records around the world.
Taylor Swift sweeps up the vinyl sales charts with the top 3 best selling albums. Overall, Taylor Swift takes 7 of the top 20 albums in the list. Overall, Swift shifted over 3,750,000 records around the world last year. The only other artist to have multiple placements in the top 20 is Lana Del Rey with two albums in the top list.
Classic albums from Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, and Michael Jackson helped make up the list. Notable contemporary artists topping vinyl sales includes Travis Scott in 4th place with UTOPIA and Olivia Rodrigo in 6th with GUTS.
Vinyl records have seen a resurgence in recent years. Whilst streaming has largely replaced physical formats, physical sales have been increasing as a way for collectors to show their appreciation of certain records. The UK reported their highest vinyl sales since 1990 last year.
