This Ninja Tune signed producer has been making his mark on the British electronic scene. With his highly infectious dance tunes that naturally layer the grooves of deep house with the bright positivity of afrobeat. The Scottish beat maker has made waves with their joyously jazzy take on dance beats and is set to steal the sound of the upcoming Summer.

Combining the teen-girl attitude of Olivia Rodrigo with a sound that flips somewhere between the dance-y synths of the 80s and the stripped back, vocally powered aesthetic of Lana Del Rey. Chappell’s debut album ‘The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess‘ has stamped Roan’s presence in the public sphere and any following releases are guaranteed to spread through the veins of an already dedicated audience.

Flowerovlove is – I believe – the only artist in this list that I’ve heard whilst out and about on the radio or being played in stores. The success of her latest single ‘a girl like me‘ is a fantastic sign for this catchy-as-hell pop singers rising career. With a series of successful singles getting flowerovlove’s name out there last year, she is only destined for big things this year.

This French singer has a voice that effortlessly flows between a talkative rapping flow and powerful Beyoncé-esque vocals. The beats backing her take the afrobeat rhythms that are taking the world by storm and make them feel fresh with a UK Garage sound to them. Following the success of her single Soldier on TikTok, the artist is prepped to go beyond a viral hit with a dedicated fanbase this year.

Jazzy is exactly what the dance music lovers from the early-noughties have been waiting for. The Irish singer offers incredibly nostalgic hooks over the top of dance beats so iconic they sound like they’ve been club companions for years already. Jazzy had an impressive 2023 with four hits on the UK chart so far. Expect to see much more of her this year as the cold weather gives way to dancing through the warmer evenings.

Luz

Luz has been slowly building her presence with a few years of powerful singles behind her. The mellow authenticity of her emotional songs have captured a generation. Piano ballads aplenty populate the discography of Luz. With numerous successful singles under her belt, 2024 may be the year for an explosive debut album.

Ireland have been cultivating some great cultural exports lately, with NewDad capturing an entirely different audience to Jazzy’s nightclubs. NewDad have slotted into the re-invigorated popularity of shoegaze (an Irish-born genre funnily enough), bred by TikTok’s blossoming appreciation for bands like My Bloody Valentine. Their dreamy sound is the perfect destination for those looking for a contemporary answer to the effects-laden movement that bubbled beneath the surface of the 90s.

Omah Lay’s intoxicating blend of afrobeat and reggaeton is laced with ethereal vocals for a sound that is both traditional and modern. Omah Lay has been cultivating his success with some huge songs for a few years. Only getting better with each release, this years output from the artist is sure to be heard around the world – likely loudly from passing cars.

You wouldn’t be faulted for expecting something musically aggressive from his appearance. What you get from Teezo Touchdown is totally unexpected. Behind the spiky exterior lies emotive lyrics sincerely sung from the up-and-comer who has worked with big-hitters like Drake, Travis Scott, and Tyler the Creator in recent years preparing to break out with the success of his own music.

Winners of BBC Radio 1’s Sound of 2024, The Last Dinner Party have been exploding onto stages since breaking out of the COVID years. Pop ballad choruses reminiscent of the cultural explosivity of Florence and the Machine are backed up by rock band sensibilities, complete with guitar solos.
