Spotify Q1 2025: How many people use and pay for Spotify?
Spotify has just reported their first quarter 2025 earnings, featuring the latest number of subscribers, monthly active users and more.
Spotify’s just released Q1 2025 results shows off the music streaming service’s highlights. You can find the full earnings report here and Spotify’s webcast Q&A on their Investor Relations site.
As of the end of last quarter, Spotify had 268 million Subscribers, a 12% increase since Q1 2024. In monthly active users, which combines both Free and Premium users, Spotify had 678 million, an increase of 10% year-over-year.
- Subscribers increased 12% Y/Y to 268 million.
- Monthly Active Users reached 678 million up by 10% Y/Y.
- Total Revenue was up 15% Y/Y to €4.2 billion.
- Gross Margin improved by ~400 bps YoY to 31.6%.
- Operating Income rose to €509M.
Spotify points out this is the highest Q1 Subscriber net adds since 2020, when consumption shot up during the pandemic. Operating Income is also at a record high.
The underlying data at the moment is very healthy: engagement remains high, retention is strong, and thanks to our freemium model, people have the flexibility to stay with us even when things feel more uncertain. So yes, the short term may bring some noise, but we remain confident in the long-term story, and the direction we’re heading in feels clearer than ever.
