Spotify’s new Premium Platinum plan brings lossless audio to five markets. Here’s everything listeners need to know.

Spotify is expanding its subscription options once again, rolling out a new Premium Platinum tier across five markets: India, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and South Africa. The addition marks one of Spotify’s most ambitious upgrades to date, introducing higher audio quality and a suite of advanced AI features aimed at more dedicated listeners.

At the heart of the new tier is lossless audio. Premium Platinum subscribers can stream music in up to 24-bit/44.1 kHz FLAC, delivering a far richer sound experience than Spotify’s standard compressed formats. For audiophiles, and for anyone who simply wants to hear music with more clarity and depth, this is a major step forward.

The Platinum plan also folds in Spotify’s growing ecosystem of AI-powered tools, including its AI DJ with spoken commentary and an upgraded intelligent playlist creator that adapts more closely to individual listening habits. In some of the launch markets, the plan even adds support for DJ software integrations, giving creators and performers new ways to use Spotify’s catalogue in their sets.

Premium Platinum allows up to three users on a single plan, creating a mini-family option for small households or groups. In the participating markets, Spotify is no longer offering the traditional six-person family plan to new subscribers.

Pricing varies between regions, but in most cases Premium Platinum costs significantly more than standard Premium, reflecting the added features, improved audio quality, and expanded functionality.

To take full advantage of lossless streaming, users need to manually enable it in their media quality settings. Once activated, tracks that support the feature will display a “Lossless” indicator, and playback can be routed through compatible speakers, headphones, and Spotify Connect devices.

The introduction of Premium Platinum comes shortly after Spotify began rolling out lossless audio to standard Premium users in dozens of countries. By launching an even higher tier in select regions, Spotify appears to be testing how far demand for high-fidelity listening and advanced AI tools can go, and whether these features justify a premium price point.
