Spotify’s music contest comes to Argentina, giving local talent a shot at Quilmes Rock.

Spotify is expanding its support for emerging Latin American artists with the launch of Mi Primer Escenario (My First Stage) in Argentina. This initiative gives up-and-coming musicians the chance to make their festival debut at Quilmes Rock, one of the country’s biggest and most iconic rock festivals.

After a successful rollout in Mexico, where rising artist Mia Salinas performed at MEXCLA Spotify, Mi Primer Escenario is now offering independent Argentine musicians a unique opportunity to reach new audiences and take their careers to the next level.

“As part of our mission to support local talent, we launched this contest to give participants the chance to showcase their music to the world and debut at one of the most iconic festivals in the country, hand in hand with their favourite audio platform.”

Carolina Martin, Spotify’s Artist & Label Partnerships Lead, Southern Cone.

How does ‘Mi Primer Escenario’ work?

The process unfolds in three phases, culminating in one artist earning a performance slot at Quilmes Rock. The festival is set to take place in Buenos Aires on April 5, 6, 12, and 13.

The winner will feature alongside legendary acts such as Los Piojos, Andrés Calamaro, Miranda!, Babasonicos, and Los Auténticos Decadentes, and will also be featured on the cover of Spotify’s Top Verano 2025 playlist.

How to participate

Phase 1 (February 4 to February 11):

  • Record a video performing an original rock, indie, or pop-rock song (30 seconds to 2 minutes).
  • Upload it to TikTok using the hashtag #SpotifyMiPrimerEscenario (ensure you own the full rights to the song).
  • The top 20 artists with the most comments will advance to the semifinals.

Phase 2 (February 19 to February 28):

  • Spotify’s team will select 10 finalists, considering how well they fit the Quilmes Rock lineup.
  • These artists will be featured on a special Spotify playlist where listeners in Argentina can vote using a new in-app tool.
  • All finalists will also be added to a separate Spotify editorial playlist.

How to vote:

  • Open the playlist and listen to your favourite artist’s song.
  • A voting option will appear at the end of the playlist.
  • Free users can vote once per day, while Premium users get three votes per day.

Phase 3 (March 5 to Quilmes Rock):

  • The winner will be announced on March 5, and will be featured as the cover artist of Spotify’s Top Verano 2025 playlist for the following week.
  • The artist will then make their festival debut with a 30-minute set at Quilmes Rock in April.
