Spotify’s latest video video series mixes editorial expertise with personalisation to help listeners find fresh tracks and artists every week.

What’s new?

Spotify is launching ‘The Drop Weekly’, a new video series designed to spotlight the freshest release. Every Friday, Spotify’s music editors will highlight new tracks, rising artists, and cultural moments shaping the music landscape. Now, US listeners will be kept in the loop when it comes to everything new music releases.

It’s not just a static playlist either. This is video content straight from Spotify’s editorial team who are now sharing their expertise weekly:

“Our editors live and breathe music culture, understanding the nuances and moments that shape it. Through this series, listeners will get to hear directly from them and discover how each artist, album, or song fits into the cultural zeitgeist.”

Sulinna Ong, Spotify’s Global Head of Editorial

How it works

‘The Drop Weekly’ blends editorial insights with personalised recommendations. Alongside the weekly content from Spotify’s editors, you’ll also get personalised recommendations based on your taste. This applies to both fresh releases and upcoming tracks, much like Countdown Pages.

If you hear a track you like, you can save directly to Your Library instantly, or share it with friends to spark conversation.

The series is available for both Free and Premium Spotify users in the US now. You’ll find it right in your Home feed or by searching directly for ‘The Drop Weekly’.

Why it matters

For listeners, ‘The Drop Weekly’ is a fresh way to cut through the noise of new releases and stay plugged into what’s hot each week. For artists, it’s another avenue for discovery, helping their music land directly in front of potential new fans.

The move also builds on the success of Spotify staples like ‘New Music Friday’ and ‘Release Radar’, giving artists one more way to connect with audiences. With ‘The Drop Weekly’, Spotify continues to position itself as a crucial part of music discovery.
