Spotify Audiobooks+ is now available in the US
Spotify Premium Individual, Duo and Family members in the US can now purchase a 15-hour audiobook top-up for $11.99/month.
Over the last three years, Spotify has been expanding audiobooks on the platform, partnering with major publishing brands, to reach their goal of becoming a true all-in-one audio platform, offering music, podcasts and audiobooks. Earlier this summer, Spotify began rolling out Audiobooks+, their 15-hour audiobook add-on plan for Spotify Premium subscribers. Today, Audiobooks+ comes to the US.
Individual Spotify Premium members already get 15 hours of audiobooks per month under their $11.99 subscription. Available for an additional $11.99 per month, Audiobooks+ will get subscribers of the add-on an additional 15 hours of audiobooks.
Currently, only the plan manager of Duo and Family Spotify Premium accounts get 15 hours of audiobooks per month. With Audiobooks+, now for the first time additional members can get access to audiobook listening. With Audiobooks+ for Plan Members, the plan manager can purchase members 15 hours of listening for $11.99 per month, per additional member. Additionally, a one-time 10-hour top-up is also available to plan members for an additional $13.
Alternatively, for non-Premium members, Spotify offers an Audiobooks Access plan for $9.99, which gives subscribers 15 hours of audiobooks, without the ad-free music. Why the Audiobooks+ add-on costs more than the Audiobooks Access membership, I can’t work out. It means for Premium members, it would effectively be more cost-effective to instead purchase the Audiobooks Access subscription to net 30 hours of overall audiobooks, although you’d have to deal with two separate Spotify accounts.
Spotify Audiobooks+ is now available in the US, Ireland, Canada, U.K., Australia, New Zealand, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein.
