SoundCloud & Calm offer mental health support to artists
SoundCloud have partnered with Calm to offer mental health support to artists through their member benefits program.
SoundCloud have announced a new partnership. They’re working with Calm, the number one app for sleep, mediation and relaxation. Together they’re introducing new health and wellness benefits to their artists.
Calm is joining companies like Discord, Squarespace, Adobe, Splice, and others, offering benefits to SoundCloud members. This marks their first partnership focusing on mental health. They state a statistic from Record Union as informing the decision to partner up, showing that 73% of independent musicians struggle with mental illness.
SoundCloud Next and Next Pro artists have earned exclusive offers for Calm through their benefits program. Next artists can take advantage of a one-month free trial, followed by 50% off a Premium membership. Next Pro artists get two months free, with the same discount on memberships.
Both Next and Next Pro artists can make use of their discounts via a single-use URL from their SoundCloud for Artists portal. The discounts will apply for their first year only.
SoundCloud CEO, Eliah Seton said: “The issue of mental health and wellness for artists is a personal one for me. This partnership and step into the wellness space is all about meeting artists where they are.
“We really want artists to find value in our subscription offerings. That’s why we’ve focused on building out our member benefits in a more holistic and meaningful way.”
On the Calm app, artists can find hundreds of hours of content ranging from meditation, stories to help you sleep, mindfulness exercises, and soundscapes. It’s available in 7 languages and is available in more than 190 countries.
SoundCloud artist Sojabrat shared their feelings on the new partnership, saying: “Mental health holds a significant place in my life because I firmly believe that happiness is the ultimate key to a fulfilling existence. For artists mental health is of paramount importance.
“The creative process, especially in fields like music music, heavily relies on being in a good headspace… a healthy mental state can inspire creativity, enable self-expression, and fuel the artistic journey, allowing them to create the kind of music that resonates deeply with their audience.”
