Sony WF-C510 TWS earbuds may change the meaning of affordable wireless earbuds
Sony has announced the WF-C510, its latest budget-friendly wireless earbuds offering a range of improved features at a competitive price of $59.99.
The successor to the popular WF-C500, the WF-C510 brings advancements like extended battery life, a smaller and lighter design and more connectivity options while maintaining audio quality and an affordable price.
WF-C510: affordable TWS earbuds that pack a punch
Sony’s WF-C510 earbuds boast a more compact, lightweight design than their predecessors. As stated by Sony, the new model is 20 per cent smaller and 15 per cent lighter – making them the company’s smallest closed-type earbuds to date.
In fact, Sony promises the earbuds weigh just 4.6 grams each and offer a comfortable listening experience over for prolonged sessions. Furthermore, Sony has redesigned the charging case and now it’s thinner for easy pocket or bag storage.
Moreover, the extended battery life is perhaps the biggest standout feature of the WF-C510 compared to the WF-C500.
These new earbuds offer up to 11 hours of continuous playback while the charging case offers an additional 11 hours, marking a total of 22 hours of listening time. A five-minute charge provides an hour of playback too.
Sony’s new WF-C510 also supports Sony’s Multipoint Bluetooth connection for dual connection between two devices.
Additionally, the earbuds are equipped with Bluetooth 5.3, an upgrade from the previous model’s Bluetooth 5.0.
Despite adding so much bang for an affordable buck, Sony has not compromised audio quality. For example, the WF-C510 offers support for Sony’s Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE), which upscales compressed audio files to restore high-frequency elements and clarity.
The earbuds also support 360 Reality Audio for immersive spatial audio for music, films & TV using compatible streaming services.
Another notable feature of the WF-C510 is the inclusion of Ambient Sound Mode, commonly found in more expensive models with active noise cancellation (ANC). Ambient Sound Mode allows external sounds in through the earbuds, useful for when you’re walking on a busy road and ANC isn’t the smartest option.
Furthermore, the WF-C510 earbuds come with an IPX4 water resistance rating, making them suitable for light rain and workouts where they might be exposed to sweat.
Available in four colours: black, blue, white, and yellow. Sony has made the WF-C510 available for pre-order on its website and Amazon, with shipments expected to begin in early September.
