Apple updates Shazam for improved Spotify and Apple Music syncing
Shazam’s latest update improves music discovery by seamlessly syncing tagged songs to Apple Music and Spotify playlists.
Shazam has released a new update that makes it easier than ever to sync discovered songs with Apple Music and Spotify. This latest improvement means that when users identify music using Shazam – whether through the app, Control Centre, Siri, or Shortcuts – the track will now automatically be added to their “My Shazam Tracks” playlist on their chosen streaming platform.
This update improves the way Shazam interacts with users’ favourite streaming services, ensuring that no tagged song is lost or forgotten. Previously, only tracks discovered directly within the app would be synced, but now, even songs identified through external methods will be included.
For those who want to refresh their playlist with older discoveries, simply toggling the “Sync your songs” option off and on in the settings will trigger a re-sync of all past identified tracks. Spotify users may also need to reopen the app to see their updated playlist.
We’ve made syncing song to Apple Music and Spotify better than ever! Shazam will now include songs found via Music Recognition in Control Centre, Siri, and Shortcuts to your “My Shazam Tracks” playlist in Apple Music or Spotify.
Simply toggle “Sync your songs” off and on in Shazam settings to re-sync all your previously discovered songs from the Shazam app. You may need to reopen Spotify to see the playlist refreshed.
Don’t forget to keep your Shazam History safe and in sync between your devices. To do this, turn on iCloud sync in Shazam Settings.

For artists, this update is particularly valuable. More seamless syncing means there is a higher chance that when a listener discovers a track, they will revisit it later, leading to more streams and engagement. This is important as Shazam continues to play a role in shaping music discovery. With over 100 billion song recognitions, the app has already demonstrated its massive influence in the industry.
Looking ahead, Shazam is likely to continue innovating in the way it helps listeners find new music. The app has recently been exploring new ways to connect fans and artists, and its Fast Forward campaign hints at how it plans to shape the future of music discovery.
